A more economical solution for a loose dentures are Snap On Dentures or "Overdentures". On the lower jaw with two implants on top of each implant is fixed a male attachment, each of which snaps into a female attachment (called Locators), which are embedded in the Snap On Denture. Because the Snap On Denture connects to the implants, which are rock solid in the bone of the jaw, the Snap On Denture does not move around much or flop up or let food get under the teeth.

 

On the upper jaw with four implants a metal bar is fabricated which screws on to the four implants. On the bottom side of the bar is attached four male attachments, each of which snaps into a female attachment (called Locators), which are embedded in the Snap On Denture. 

Because the bone in the upper jaw is not as dense as that in the lower jaw, four implants are required for long-term stability.
